Woman Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on Lakeville Highway in Petaluma

 
PETALUMA, CA (February 5, 2024) — A 79-year-old woman died in a 2-car accident on Lakeville Highway at Pine View Way.
 
According to the Petaluma Police Department, the fatal crash happened around 12:37 p.m. Thursday. Under unclear circumstances, an eastbound sedan collided with a small westbound SUV. Soon after, medical personnel responded to the scene and found the SUV with significant driver’s side damage and the sedan with major front-end damage.
 
Upon evaluating the victims, paramedics determined that the female SUV driver sustained fatal wounds. The Sonoma County Coroner’s Office has yet to release her name. Meanwhile, the 29-year-old or 22-year-old man — according to conflicting reports — in the sedan reported minor injuries and was brought to a hospital for further assistance.
 
In the investigation, traffic investigators ruled out DUI as a possible explanation for the crash. However, if anyone can help with the investigation, please call the Petaluma Police Department.
