67-Year-Old Man Dies in Rollover Accident on Highway 99 near Franklin Road [Merced, CA]

67-Year-Old Man Killed in Rollover Crash on Highway 99 in Merced

 
MERCED, CA (October 21, 2022) — A 67-year-old man died in a rollover accident on Highway 99 near Franklin Road on Wednesday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the single-car accident happened around 2:00 p.m. For unknown reasons, a 2000 Lexus sedan driver heading northbound veered to the right of the road. Subsequently, the car overturned several times.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded and found the San Diego man with fatal injuries and his 41-year-old female passenger from San Diego with moderate injuries. Paramedics transported the surviving patient to Mercy Medical Center for care.
 
At this time, authorities do not know if either occupant was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. However, they have ruled out alcohol and drugs as possible explanations for the accident.
