67-Year-Old Celeste Young, James Hartley Dead, Marilyn Fitzgerald Hospitalized in Head-On Collision on Highway 99 near Tehama Vina Road
LOS MOLINOS, CA (June 16, 2023) — Celeste Young and James Hartley died in a head-on accident on Highway 99 near Tehama Vina Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly head-on collision happened on June 10 around 2:55 p.m. For an unknown reason, 54-year-old James Hartley lost control of his northbound 1996 Ford Ranger. His vehicle veered into the southbound lane, crashing into a 2015 BMW 428i in a head-on fashion.
Hartley, of Los Molinos, and 67-year-old Celeste Young — the BMW driver — suffered fatal injuries in the accident. Young’s 82-year-old passenger, Marilyn Fitzgerald, suffered major injuries and sought care at Enloe Medical Center in Chico for treatment.
Traffic investigators learned that all three victims were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash; however, an investigation should reveal more details into what factors played a part in the collision.
Our caring thoughts and sympathies go out to the bereaved families and friends of Celeste Young and James Hartley.
