Silvino Gomez Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash on Central Avenue [South Los Angeles, CA]

40-Year-Old Man Suffers Critical Injuries after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in South LA

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (June 16, 2023) – Silvino Gomez was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash in South Los Angeles Saturday morning on June 10.
 
The crash happened around 6:00 a.m. at the intersection of Central Avenue and Vernon Avenue. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the 40-year-old victim was walking in a crosswalk on a “Walk” signal.
 
A speedidng dark-colored vehicle ran through a red light and struck Gomez, who was thrown into the air land landed on his head.
 
After the crash, the driver of the vehicle did not stop.
 
First responders rushed the Gomez to a hospital, where he underwent surgery for severe injuries and was listed in critical condition.
 
Police said the suspect vehicle likely has front end, hood and possibly windshield damage.
 
The city of Los Angeles offered a standing reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the hit-and-run suspect.
