Passenger Dies after Two Vehicles Collide on Highway 126 in Fillmore

 
FILLMORE, CA (February 28, 2023) – A 66-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 126 in Fillmore Monday morning on February 27.
 
The accident happened around 10:15 a.m. just west of Cavin Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 64-year-old Palmdale man was driving a 2000 Mercury eastbound on the highway. For unknown reasons, his vehicle drifted into oncoming westbound traffic and collided with a 2013 BMW, driven by a 24-year-old Valencia woman. Officers also noted the conditions were rainy, wet and cool at the time of the crash.
 
The victim, who was a passenger in the Mercury, was found unresponsive inside the car. She died at the scene. She was also from Palmdale.
 
Paramedics took the driver of the Mercury to Ventura County Medical Center with major injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the woman driving the BMW also suffered major injuries from the crash.
 
No arrests were made at this time. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, which is still under investigation.
