65-year-old Francisco Gonzalez Killed, 66-year-old Felipe Avalos Charged in Deadly Hit-and-Run Bicycle Crash on Broadway near 115th Street

 
LOS ANGELES, CA (October 26, 2023) — Francisco Gonzalez died in a hit-and-run bicycle accident on Broadway near 115th Street Tuesday.
 
According to reports, the deadly hit-and-run happened around 9:15 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, 66-year-old Felipe Avalos struck a bicyclist near 115th Street. Rather than stopping, Avalos continued driving, dragging the victim’s body for nearly a mile, leaving a trail of blood, skin and articles of clothing. However, at South Broadway and West 117th Street, the body dislodged from the white Chevy Astro van which continued driving.
 
Soon after, Los Angeles police responded to find the fatal victim, whom the Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner’s Office identified as 65-year-old Francisco Gonzalez.
 
The following day, police arrested Avalos, booking him on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter with a bail set at $50,000.
 
Officials have no other information on this crash. However, an investigation should reveal more information.
