5 Hospitalized after Multi-Vehicle Accident on East Gridley Road [Gridley, CA]

Road Closed after Multi-Vehicle Accident on East Gridley Road near Authority Drive in Gridley

 
GRIDLEY, CA (July 15, 2021) – Five people sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle accident on East Gridley Road, Wednesday morning.
 
According to the Gridley Police Department, the incident happened at about 7:15 a.m. A westbound gray Nissan Altima slowed down to take a left turn. A red Ford Focus could not stop in time and slammed into the rear of the Altima.
 
The impact pushed the Altima into the eastbound lane, where it collided with a Nissan Pathfinder. Then, the Pathfinder spun out of control and entered the westbound lanes. There, the Pathfinder collided with a Nissan Rogue.
 
The Pathfinder then went down an embankment near Authority Drive and Feather River.
 
Emergency responders transported five people to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Meanwhile, investigators closed a portion of East Gridley Road for an hour to make way for clearing operations.
 
Gridley police continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
