3 Killed in Multi-Car Crash on 5 Freeway in Willows

 
WILLOWS, CA (June 19, 2023) — Three people died in a multi-car accident on the 5 Freeway near County Road 57.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly multi-vehicle collision happened around 4:00 p.m. Friday.
 
For an unknown reason, at least one car crashed at the County Road 57 overpass with the 5 Freeway. As a result, the crashed vehicles blocked the northbound lanes, CHP officers confirmed.
 
Due to the debris and vehicles, crews set up a hard closure taking traffic off the northbound 5 Freeway at County Road 68.
 
Several people suffered major injuries, and by 5:04 p.m., Willows Fire Department officials confirmed three fatalities.
