Julio Flores Hospitalized, 4 Suspects Sought in Hit-and-Run Bike Crash on Main Street near 27th Street

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (June 19, 2023) — Julio Flores was injured in a hit-and-run bicycle accident on Main Street near 27th Street.
 
According to Los Angeles police, the hit-and-run bicycle accident happened on May 16 around 7:30 p.m. Just before that, however, four people reportedly stole a black 2014 Kia Optima in the 300 block of West 14th Street. The sedan traveled at a high rate of speed southbound on Main Street when, for unknown reasons, the tires lost traction. The vehicle began to fishtail, and the Kia driver lost control and struck the teen cyclist.
 
Due to the impact, the teen flew up into the air and landed on the sidewalk. Reports identified the injured victim as Julio Flores.
 
Paramedics responded to the scene soon after and rushed him to a hospital for treatment of broken bones and bruises.
 
According to surveillance footage, following the crash, the suspects abandoned the vehicle on West 31st Street before a male entered the Kia and drove away. The next day, police found the vehicle in the 300 block of 32nd Street.
 
Traffic investigators would like anyone’s help in identifying the four suspects, including the man who stole the Kia, describing him as between 35 and 40 years old.
