2 Adults and 1 Child Seriously Injured after Car Crashes into Tree on Hames Road in Santa Cruz County

 
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA (May 26, 2022) – Three people sustained serious injuries after a car crashed into a tree on Hames Road on Sunday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on May 22, at about 5:40 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, a 2002 Mazda left the road and crashed into a tree. Then, the minivan sheared a fire hydrant and hit another tree near Hames Hollow.
 
The impact of the crash pinned the vehicle against a tree in a ditch. As per reports, two victims needed extensive extrication.
 
An air ambulance later transported three people, including a child, to a hospital for treatment of major injuries.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
