Toddler Dies after car Backs Over Her on Adams Street in Southeast Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 27, 2022) – A 20-month-old girl died after hit by a car on Adams Street in southeast Bakersfield Thursday morning on Thanksgiving Day.
 
The crash happened around 10:08 a.m. on November 24, in the 500 block of Adam Street, where the family was in the immediate area preparing for Thanksgiving festivities. According to the California Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old man had been backing up his Ford Mustang and hit the child, who became stuck under the vehicle.
 
Family members got the girl out and performed CPR. An ambulance arrived soon after and rushed the girl to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
 
The CHP said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors. An investigation is ongoing.
