2 Teens Dead, Driver Crashes onto Torrey Pines State Beach in La Jolla
LA JOLLA, CA (April 27, 2022) — Two teens died after a car crashed on Torrey Pines State Beach from Torrey Pines Road, late Monday.
According to San Diego Police, the fatal single-car crash happened around 11:00 p.m. For unknown reasons, a 19-year-old driving a 2020 Subaru WRX at a high rate of speed lost control of the wheel on Torrey Pines Road. Subsequently, the vehicle hit the center median and crashed through a guardrail before going over the ledge and striking multiple rocks on the beach.
Four passengers between the ages of 18 and 19 years old occupied the vehicle at the time.
However, two of them died in the crash, either at a hospital or at the scene.
Shortly after, paramedics treated the two other teens who suffered minor to major injuries in the accident.
At this time, the fatal victims’ names and the ultimate cause of the crash demand additional investigating. However, police believe speed and DUI may have precipitated this crash.
