2 People Hospitalized in San Diego Multi-Car Collision on Del Mar Heights Road

SAN DIEGO, CA (March 17, 2023) — Two people suffered serious injuries in a multi-car crash on Del Mar Heights Road near Carmel Canyon Road.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the four-vehicle collision happened around 8:00 a.m. Wednesday. For an unknown reason, a 16-year-old driving an eastbound 2016 BMW lost control and veered into the westbound lanes. The BMW subsequently struck a Toyota Camry in the left-turn lane and a Toyota Corolla stopped near it. The force of the crash pushed the Toyota Camry into a Lexus SUV, driven by an 18-year-old.

As a result of the collision, a 50-year-old woman driving the Corolla suffered major injuries, and the 54-year-old woman driving the Camry also reported injuries.

San Diego police officers confirmed that neither the BMW driver nor the Lexus driver sustained any injuries in the crash.

However, it’s still unclear what led to the accident, but an ongoing investigation should confirm any unclear details.
