Two-Vehicle Crash on Laurel Avenue in Kings County Kills 2 Passengers

 
KINGS COUNTY, CA (May 31, 2023) – Two people were killed in a two-vehicle accident on Laurel Avenue in Kings County Tuesday afternoon on May 30.
 
The fatal accident happened around 12:00 p.m. at the intersection with Avenal Cutoff Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Dodge Ram truck came to a stop at the intersection. At the same time, a gold Honda Accord approached the intersection at approximately 60 mph.
 
The Ram continued and made a left turn from the eastbound to southbound. The Honda attempted to avoid the Ram by swerving out of the way. The Ram tried to do the same but ended up on the opposite side of the roadway and the two vehicles collided.
 
A 67-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman who were passengers in the Honda both died at the scene.
 
Two other passengers in the Honda, a 77-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman, were taken local hospitals with moderate to major injuries.
 
Both drivers were unharmed.
 
Drugs or alcohol were not factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
