Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Car while Walking Along Highway 50 in Sacramento

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (May 31, 2023) – A woman died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 50 in Sacramento early Tuesday morning on May 30.
 
The fatal accident happened shortly after 4:30 a.m. along the eastbound highway at Howe Avenue, just near Sacramento’s College Town neighborhood. According to the California Highway Patrol, the female pedestrian was walking in the fast lane of traffic when a Toyota, driven by a Sacramento man, struck her.
 
After striking the victim, the driver pulled over and called 911.
 
First responders tried saving the woman, but she died at the scene.
 
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity once family members are properly notified.
 
Drugs and alcohol are not considered to be factors for the driver or pedestrian, according to the CHP. An investigation is ongoing.
