Fatal Accident Involving Amazon Delivery Van on Van Buren Boulevard near 56th Street

 
JURUPA VALLEY, CA (February 27, 2021) – Two people were killed in an accident involving an Amazon delivery van on Van Buren Boulevard, Saturday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 5:54 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, a Ford Mustang and a Toyota Yaris collided on Van Buren Boulevard. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department then arrived to assist the people involved in the collision.
 
At 6:34 p.m., a southbound Amazon Prime delivery van struck the parked patrol vehicle near 56th Street. The impact pushed the Sheriff’s vehicle into four people standing in the collision investigation scene.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the Ford driver and the Toyota driver dead at the scene. Authorities did not release the names of the victims, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, a community service officer and a volunteer with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department sustained major injuries. They were later transported to Riverside Community Hospital for treatment.
 
Investigators ruled out alcohol as a factor in the fatal accident. CHP asks witnesses to call (951) 637-8000.
