16-Year-Old Boy Injured in Bus Accident on Midland Road [Poway, CA]

MTS Bus Plows into Parked Cars on Midland Road in Poway Injuring Teen

 
POWAY, CA (June 25, 2023) – A 16-year-old boy was injured after an MTS bus driver drove onto a sidewalk on Midland Road in Poway Tuesday afternoon on June 20.
 
The crash happened around 1:00 p.m. across the street from Midland Elementary School. According to the Poway Sheriff’s Station, the male bus driver was asleep when the bus veered to the right and struck several parked cars.
 
The bus driver was able to get out of the bus safely. One of the parked vehicles hit an electrical box and SDG&E was notified.
 
One of the parked cars was pushed into the 16-year-old victim, pinning him between a truck and a fence. The teenager suffered head and leg injuries.
 
No passengers were on the bus at the time of the accident and the parked vehicles were unoccupied.
 
Neither drugs nor alcohol played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
