Deadly Multi-Car Crash on Highway 118 in Chatsworth

 
CHATSWORTH, CA (January 9, 2024) — One person died in a 3-car accident on Highway 118 near Topanga Canyon Boulevard.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the multi-vehicle accident happened around 9:00 a.m. Monday. For an unknown reason, a driver in a yellow Penske truck rear-ended a flatbed truck hauling lumber. Subsequently, lumber crashed into the windshield of the Penske truck, impaling a man inside the cab. From there, a blue SUV traveling behind the Penske truck plowed into its rear seconds after.
 
Soon after, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene, but the man in the Penske truck died moments later. Officials did not identify him.
 
Reports did not say if anyone else suffered an injury, but reports confirmed that a Sigalert lasted nearly three hours while authorities investigated the scene.
