1 Dead, 1 Injured, Double Motorcycle Accident near Borrego Springs Road in Borrego Springs

 
BORREGO SPRINGS, CA (October 31, 2023) — One person died after two motorcycles crashed in an accident near Borrego Springs Road and Highway 78.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly motorcycle accident happened around 10:10 a.m. Saturday.
 
Under unclear circumstances, a westbound 2006 KTM motorcycle traveling about 55 miles per hour on a private road collided with a 2002 Yamaha WR250 motorcycle. Per reports, the Yamaha was heading northbound on the dirt road from a private residence prior to the collision. As a result of the impact, both riders were ejected onto the road.
 
Shortly after, paramedics responded and found the 20-year-old KTM motorcycle rider with fatal injuries. Meanwhile, medics airlifted the Yamaha driver —  a 20-year-old from Carlsbad — to Palomar Medical Center for treatment.
 
Authorities do not have the victims’ names or the cause of the crash. However, they will look into the details, who had the right of way, speed and other factors.
