Bicyclist Dies After Being Hit by Driver near Monterey Highway in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (December 22, 2023) — One person died days after a bicycle accident near Monterey Highway and Alma Avenue.
 
According to San Jose police officers, the bicycle accident happened around 7:40 a.m. on December 14. For an unknown reason, a northbound driver in a 2019 Ford van turned into a parking lot but struck an adult male bicyclist heading northbound in the bike lane.
 
Upon impact, the cyclist lost control and struck a fire hydrant.
 
Shortly thereafter, paramedics arrived and took the injured cyclist to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. However, despite receiving medical efforts, the man passed away on December 19.
 
Following the crash, the Ford driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police investigators. At this time, officials have withheld the name of the bicyclist until they notify family members.
