Driver Hospitalized after Caltrain and Vehicle Collision near Broadway in Burlingame

 
BURLINGAME, CA (January 4, 2024) – One person sustained injuries after a Caltrain hit a vehicle near Broadway, Wednesday morning.
 
According to Caltrain, the incident happened on January 3, at about 6:00 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, a Toyota sedan turned onto the tracks and traveled approximately 120 feet. Then, it was struck by a northbound Caltrain #501 near the Broadway crossing in Burlingame Terrace.
 
Emergency crews transported the Toyota driver to a hospital.
 
As per reports, none of the 36 passengers on the train sustained injuries.
 
Crews worked until 9:30 a.m. to clear the wreckage and repair the front-end plow of the train.
 
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office Transit Police Bureau is investigating the accident. Officials will release additional information once it becomes available.
