EL CAJON, CA (July 12, 2023) — One person died and three people suffered serious injuries in a multi-car accident at Jamacha Road and Cuyamaca College Drive.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal multi-vehicle crash happened around 4:34 p.m. Friday. For possible DUI reasons, a 32-year-old man in an eastbound Honda Civic failed to stop at a red traffic light. As a result, the Honda Civic struck the right side of a westbound Nissan Kicks at an unknown speed.

Due to the impact, the Honda rotated clockwise, and the left-rear crashed into a Tesla Model Y traveling behind the Nissan.

Tragically, an 84-year-old male Nissan passenger suffered fatal injuries, dying at the scene. In addition, the Nissan driver and a second passenger, described by authorities as a 74-year-old woman, suffered major injuries. Paramedics transported the two surviving patients to a hospital. As for the 18-year-old woman piloting the Tesla, she reported minor wounds.
