2 People Hurt, Driver Plunges off Hillside at Mountain Drive in Montecito

 
MONTECITO, CA (July 12, 2023) — Two people were injured after a car crashed off a hillside at Mountain Drive at Coyote Road.
 
According to the Montecito Fire Protection District, the single-car crash happened around 11:00 a.m. on July 2.
 
For an unknown reason, a man lost control of his truck and drove the car off his driveway down an embankment. The vehicle reportedly plunged roughly 150 feet down the driveway of Mountain Drive at Coyote Road.
 
Soon after, emergency crews arrived to rescue the pair, who suffered minor injuries in the accident. Firefighters had to use a low-angle rope rescue system to assist the couple to safety before bringing them to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.
 
Traffic investigators did not say what other factors led to the crash.
