Fatality Reported After Dirt Bike and Van Accident at 4th Street in Antioch
ANTIOCH, CA (March 22, 2024) — One person died after a dirt bike and a van crashed at 4th Street and L Street.
According to Antioch police officers, the fatal two-vehicle crash happened around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday. For an unknown reason, a 20-year-old operating a dirt bike southbound on L Street was traveling at a high rate of speed. Subsequently, the dirt bike ran a stop sign and collided with a white van entering the intersection.
Soon after, paramedics arrived and found the 52-year-old van driver and dirt bike rider unresponsive. Despite efforts to save the victim, paramedics pronounced the motorcyclist deceased at the scene. Officials did not release his name. The surviving van driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Authorities did not specify other factors leading to the accident. However, an investigation into the crash should confirm any unclear details.
