73-Year-Old Woman Killed in Overturned Crash on Highway 17 in Santa Cruz

 
SANTA CRUZ, CA (March 24, 2023) — A 73-year-old woman died in an overturned accident on Highway 17 near El Rancho Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal single-car accident happened around 5:45 a.m. Tuesday. During early morning rain, a female driver of a 2003 Acura lost control of her northbound vehicle. The car subsequently struck a metal pole and overturned.
 
The unidentified woman suffered fatal injuries in the crash even after receiving life-saving efforts from medical personnel. By 7:00 a.m., CHP advised drivers to take an alternate route due to the heavy traffic.
 
Information surrounding the factors leading to the crash is unavailable. However, CHP officers will be looking into weather and other factors.
