Jennifer Cardenas Killed in Wrong-Way Accident on 91 Freeway near 15 Freeway

 
CORONA, CA (March 7, 2023) — Jennifer Cardenas died in a wrong-way crash on the 91 Freeway near the 15 Freeway.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-vehicle crash happened around 4:00 a.m. Sunday. For unknown reasons, a 24-year-old Riverside woman entered the 91 East Freeway in a westbound direction at a high rate of speed. She then drove her Honda in the carpool lane passing several motorists, who contacted 911 reporting that her sedan was moving at roughly 90 miles per hour.
 
After five minutes, the Honda crashed head-on with a Toyota Corolla, driven by 22-year-old Jennifer Cardenas, of Riverside.
 
Corona Fire Department officials arrived soon after and found Cardenas with fatal injuries. The Honda driver also perished at the scene. A 23-year-old woman riding in the wrong-way car suffered minor wounds and was brought to a regional trauma center for treatment.
 
Due to the severity of the crash, officials closed the entire eastbound side for nearly three hours. An autopsy in progress should determine other factors, including if impairment played a role. If anyone has more information on the driver or crash, please call the CHP.
