REDDING, CA (October 3, 2022) — Matthew Detrant and Colton Brown were injured after their car hit a tree on Highway 44 at the 5 Freeway connection on Saturday night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the major injury accident happened around 7:35 p.m. For unknown reasons, 22-year-old Detrant made an unsafe turning movement, which caused his vehicle to career off the road and travel down a grassy embankment.
 
Subsequently, his car slammed into a tree.
 
Moments later, emergency personnel arrived and brought Detrant to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.
 
In addition, they took his passenger — 22-year-old Brown of Anderson — to the same hospital with minor injuries.
