BURLINGAME, CA (October 3, 2022) — One of two people hit in a pedestrian accident on California Drive at Oak Grove Avenue has died.
 
According to Burlingame police, the fatal pedestrian accident happened overnight Saturday.
 
Under unclear circumstances, a driver struck two pedestrians in a crosswalk at the intersection.
 
The driver took off following the impact.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded to the scene and transported both patients to a hospital, where one of them died.
 
The other one remains in critical condition.
 
According to officers, the driver who took off eventually returned and is cooperating with the investigation.
 
At the time, officers have not indicated the leading cause of the accident. However, we will update this report with more information.
