Man Dies after Struck by Two Vehicles on Highway 99 in Sutter County after Crashing Car into Ditch

 
SUTTER COUNTY, CA (August 24, 2022) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 99 in Sutter County on Sunday morning, August 21.
 
The fatal accident happened around 5:25 a.m. at Hutchinson Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving north on the highway when he drove off the roadway and into a ditch on the side.
 
The man got out of his car and began standing in traffic lanes. He attempted to wave down cars as they passed by, the CHP said.
 
Minutes later, a silver Honda that was traveling southbound struck the man. The impact caused the man to land in the northbound lane. Another gray Honda that was traveling northbound also hit him.
 
The man, only identified as a 31-year-old Oroville resident, died at the scene.
 
Both drivers of the cars involved pulled over and cooperated with officers.

Officers believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. They urged witnesses to call the CHP at 530-674-5141.
