Mary Centeno Dies after Hit by Impaired Driver on PCHP in Ventura

 
VENTURA, CA (August 14, 2022)Mary J. Centeno died in a DUI pedestrian accident in Ventura on Wednesday morning, August 10.
 
The fatal accident happened shortly after 9:20 a.m. on Pacific Coast Highway near Solimar Beach Drive. The site is between Faria Beach and Emma Wood State Beach on a roughly 6-mile stretch of the coastal highway. According to the CHP, a 2003 GMC 3500 dually pickup truck was traveling south on the highway when it drove onto the shoulder and struck Centeno.
 
Bystanders performed CPR on Centeno while Ventura County Fire Department units were en route.
 
Despite life-saving efforts, Centeno died at the scene. She was a 68-year-old Ventura resident.
 
The driver, 61-year-old Oak View man, remained on scene. He showed signs of impairment and was arrested by police.
