Wrong-Way Crash in Beaumont Kills 2 and Injures 2 Others

 
BEAUMONT, CA (April 24, 2022)Thomas Antral and Eva Lopez Gonzalez died in a wrong-way accident on 60 Freeway between Beaumont and Moreno Valley area early Saturday morning.
 
The accident happened around 3:37 a.m. on April 23 near Jack Rabbit Trail in the Badlands area. According to the Riverside County Fire Department, Gonzalez was driving a Hyundai Sonata eastbound in the westbound lanes of the freeway at approximately 90 mph. The Sonata then slammed into a Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Antral.
 
The Malibu was traveling from Palm Springs to Pico Rivera at the time, CHP officials said.
 
As a result of the crash, Antral suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 49-year-old Pasadena resident. His 40-year-old male passenger from Pico Rivera suffered serious injuries.
 
Gonzalez, a 28-year-old Hemet resident, was also killed.
 
A fourth patient sustained minor injuries but declined medical care.
 
It is unclear why Gonzalez was traveling in the wrong direction. The crash is still under investigation.
