Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Big Rig on 10 Freeway in Monterey Park

 
MONTEREY PARK, CA (March 14, 2022) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on 10 Freeway in Monterey Park on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The fatal accident happened around 2:04 p.m. on March 8 just west of 710 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, the male pedestrian jumped in front of a big rig in unclear circumstances. The big rig was unable to stop in time and struck the pedestrian.
 
When officers arrived, they found the man bleeding in the slow lane. Several vehicles had pulled over on the right shoulder.
 
Despite life-saving efforts, the man died at the scene.
 
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
 
The fatal crash raised a SigAlert in the area, blocking the roadway for at least an hour.
 
CHP officials are still investigating to determine liability and if drugs or alcohol was involved.
