1 Passenger Dies after Two Vehicles Collide on South Avenue in Corning

 
CORNING, CA (March 14, 2022) – Erna Dobson was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Corning on Monday, March 7.
 
The fatal accident happened around 6:30 p.m. on South Avenue near Kirkwood Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, 62-year-old William Dobson of Los Molinos was driving a 2015 Chrysler 200 east on South Avenue. At the same time, a teenage boy was driving a 2000 Ford F-150 west on South Avenue.
 
William Dobson turned left onto Kirkwood Road, directly into the path of the Ford, causing the vehicles to collide.
 
Erna Dobson, an 87-year-old Corning resident, was seating in the right front passenger’s seat in the Chrysler. She suffered significant injuries from crash.
 
Paramedics rushed Erna to Enloe Medical Center in Chico, where she later died, according to the Butte County Coroner’s Office.
 
Meanwhile, the conditions of William Dobson and the other driver were not immediately known.
 
Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor. At this time, the fatal crash remains under investigation.
