Motorcycle Accident on Highway 33 in Merced County Kills Man and Woman

MERCED COUNTY, CA (January 13, 2022)Joshua Price and Audra Ketcher died in a motorcycle accident on Highway 33 in Merced County on Wednesday morning.

The accident happened just after 8:00 a.m. on January 12 near Marshall Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Price and Ketcher were riding a 2007 Suzuki GSXR south on the highway when they rear-ended a 2015 GMC Sierra truck, driven by 52-year-old Louie Nunes of Gustine.

The impact ejected both Price and Ketcher from the bike.

Minutes later, a tractor-trailer traveling north braked and moved the vehicle to the left but was unable to avoid hitting the motorcycle and possibly both Price and Ketcher.

First responders pronounced both Price and Ketcher dead at the scene.

Nunes cooperated with authorities, but the driver of the tractor-trailer fled the scene.

The big rig was last seen traveling north on Highway 33. It was hauling a white tractor-trailer and may have some damage to the front of the vehicle, CHP officials said.

The CHP said foggy conditions likely caused the crash. Further investigation is underway.
