SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (August 30, 2021) – Police responded to a fatal pedestrian accident on Orcutt Road that involved an Amtrak train on August 24.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Tank Farm Road around 8:59 PM.
 
Based on reports, the pedestrian was trespassing on the tracks prior to the crash. Subsequently, an Amtrak train 777 struck the victim.
 
As a result, the pedestrian died in the incident. Officials did not yet release the identity of the deceased pending kin notification.
 
Fortunately, there were no injuries to the 26 passengers on board or crew members. However, the incident delayed the train for more than three hours.
 
At this point, the Amtrak Police Department is working with local law enforcement to investigate the case.
