Kristi Waller-Ewing Dies in Pedestrian Accident on Water Street in Santa Cruz

 
SANTA CRUZ, CA (February 22, 2021) – 60-year-old Santa Cruz County resident Kristi Waller-Ewing died after she was struck by a semi-truck on Water Street on February 10.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at River Street around 3:30 PM.
 
Based on a report, Waller-Ewing walked a dog. At the same time, a semi was making a right-hand turn onto River. Waller-Ewing stepped into a marked crosswalk, but was hit by the truck.
 
As a result, Waller-Ewing and her dog died in the incident. Traffic investigators were still in the process of determining if Ewing was crossing with the “walk” signal.
 
After the crash, the driver of the semi-truck remained on the scene and fully cooperated with police investigators.
