57-Year-Old Man Dies in Chula Vista Pedestrian Crash on E Street

 
CHULA VISTA, CA (February 2, 2021) – A man died in a pedestrian accident on E Street, just west of Broadway, Saturday evening.
 
Around 7:10 p.m., the man was crossing midblock on E Street when a Toyota Tundra pickup struck him.
 
As a result, the pedestrian sustained significant injuries. Paramedics took him to a hospital in critical condition. However, officials reported that the victim died about two hours later.
 
Authorities only described the victim as a 57-year-old transient man. However, officials withheld the victim’s name pending family notification.
 
The pickup driver stopped and cooperated with police. Officers do not suspect the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
 
An investigation into this fatal pedestrian accident is ongoing. However, the authorities are looking for any witnesses. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact local police.
