Wrong-Way Driver Causes Head-On Crash in Lake Balboa Killing Woman and 5-Year-Old Boy

 
LAKE BALBOA, CA (July 4, 2023)Yeshua Cordova Tobar and a woman were killed in a wrong-way head-on crash in Lake Balboa Thursday evening on June 29.
 
The fatal crash happened around 9:35 p.m. on Woodley Avenue near Victory Boulevard. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a 22-year-old man was driving a gray Honda Accord northbound on Woodley when he crossed over the center divider and crashed head-on into a southbound white Honda Civic occupied by four people.
 
As a result, a 60-year-old woman riding in the southbound Honda died at the scene.
 
Tobar, who was also riding in the southbound car, died at the hospital. He was a 5-year-old boy from Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner.
 
A 30-year-old woman, a 28-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman in the southbound Honda suffered moderate to major injuries.

Meanwhile, the wrong-way driver was in critical condition.

It was not immediately known if drugs, alcohol or speed were factors in the crash. Anyone with further information is urged to call 877-LAPD- 247.
