1 Dead in Rollover Crash on 15 Freeway in Escondido

 
ESCONDIDO, CA (May 22, 2024) — A man died in a rollover accident on the 15 Freeway near Deer Springs Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. For an unknown reason, a Chevrolet Silverado and a Ford F-150 collided on the northbound freeway. Subsequently, the Chevrolet overturned numerous times and landed on the right-hand shoulder while the Ford spun out and veered toward the center divider.
 
Minutes later, paramedics responded, declaring the 19-year-old Silverado driver from Murrieta deceased at the scene. Officials did not release his name.
 
Following the accident, paramedics took his 19-year-old female passenger to a hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries. The 24-year-old Ford driver from Descanso and his passenger reported no injuries in the accident.
 
Currently, traffic investigators do not have the cause. However, they do not suspect impairment to have played a role.
