Yadira Pineda Dies, Jesus Acevedo-Arana Detained in DUI Multi-Car Collision near Clovis Avenue and American Avenue

 
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (August 7, 2023) — Yadira Pineda died in a DUI multi-car accident near Clovis Avenue and American Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly multi-vehicle crash happened around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday. For DUI-related reasons, 31-year-old Jesus Acevedo-Arana neglected to stop behind an idling box truck at the intersection. Subsequently, his Honda Accord — traveling at a speed unfit for traffic conditions — crashed into the box truck’s rear so forcefully that the vehicle wedged itself underneath the trailer.
 
Tragically, 32-year-old Yadira Ruby Pineda, Acevedo-Arana’s passenger, died in the accident.
 
Acevedo-Arana and the box truck driver reported injuries, as well. Another vehicle was somehow involved. However, those occupants did not report any harm.
 
At this time, Acevedo-Arana remains hospitalized in critical condition. However, he remains in custody and could face felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges.
