Wrong-Way Driver Crashes into Semi Truck on 80 Freeway in Truckee, Police Arrest Suspect for DUI and Hit-and-Run

 
TRUCKEE, CA (March 23, 2023) – A wrong-way driver was arrested in a DUI hit-and-run crash on 80 Freeway in Truckee Wednesday afternoon on March 15.
 
The crash happened around 12:15 p.m. near the Donner Pass Rest Area. According to the Truckee Police Department, a gold Lexus SUV was heading the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of 80 Freeway. It then crashed head-on into a semi truck, resulting in minor injuries.
 
After the crash, the Lexus SUV driver tried to leave the scene on foot. The suspect then allegedly started jumping on other passing cars and tried to carjack other drivers.
 
Police later caught the suspect and arrested him. They booked him into the Nevada County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, reckless driving, felony hit-and-run, and several other charges.
