Woman Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Accident on Avenue 51 and Monroe Street

 
INDIO, CA (October 21, 2021) — A woman died in a pedestrian accident on Avenue 51 and Monroe Street at around 2:10 p.m. on Sunday, October 17.
 
Ben Guitron of the Indio Police Department said they found the elderly woman in a motorized wheelchair sitting upright on the dirt shoulder of Monroe.
 
The woman suffered major injuries. Medics rushed her to the hospital, where she later died.
 
Guitron said the driver of the car involved stayed on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
 
The identity of the woman was not yet available.
