Pedestrian Fatally Struck by BART Train at Powell Street Station in San Francisco

 
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (September 14, 2021) – A woman was struck and killed by a BART train at its Powell Street Station, Monday afternoon.
 
According to BART officials, the incident happened on September 13, at about 3:24 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, a train hit the woman on the tracks. As per witness statements, the train then dragged the victim all the way down the platform.
 
BART officials and the police later arrived and communicated with a man who claimed to be the victim’s partner. Authorities did not release the name and age of the victim.
 
Investigators closed the Powell station until 5:35 p.m.
 
BART officials continue to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
