Driver Dies after Crashing into Big Rig on Kansas Avenue in Hanford
HANFORD, CA (June 12, 2023) – A woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Kansas Avenue in Hanford Friday morning on June 9.
The fatal accident happened around 7:40 a.m. about a quarter mile east of Highway 41. According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a 2019 Honda eastbound on Kansas Avenue at an undetermined speed. At the same time, a 2020 Freightliner was traveling westbound on Kansas Avenue at approximately 45-50 mph.
For unknown reasons, the Honda veered to the left into the westbound lane directly into the path of the Freightliner, which tried to avoid the crash by steering the wheel, but they ended up colliding.
As a result of the crash, the woman driving the Honda suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
It is unclear if the big rig driver was injured in the crash.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts, and drugs and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash.
Further investigation is underway.
