Passenger Dies after Driver Crashes into Another Car on Cooper Road in Monterey County

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (September 29, 2023) – A woman was killed in a two-car accident on Cooper Road in Monterey County Thursday morning on September 28.

According to the CHP, a 25-year-old Oxnard woman was driving a Honda with an 18-year-old female passenger and a child in the back seat. She was heading westbound on McFadden Road toward the field on Cooper Road.

For unknown reasons, the woman collided with another Honda, driven by a 21-year-old Castroville man, that was going south on Nashua Road.

The impact of the crash caused fatal injuries on the female teen passenger of the first Honda. She died at the scene.

The two drivers were taken to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. Both were conscious and alert.

The child was transported to the Marina Airport where they were then taken to a Bay Area hospital. Their condition was not immediately known.

CHP said alcohol was not a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
