Teen Dead, Child Among Hospitalized in 2-Car Crash at Cooper Road in Monterey County

 
MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (September 29, 2023) — An 18-year-old woman died in a 2-car accident at Cooper Road and McFadden Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-car collision happened around 6:45 a.m. Thursday. For an unknown reason, a southbound 21-year-old driver crashed into a Honda, driven by a 25-year-old woman, and also occupied by an 18-year-old and a child.
 
Shortly after, emergency personnel reached the scene and transported a child in the backseat of the Honda, the 25-year-old Honda driver from Oxnard and the 21-year-old male driver of the other car to nearby hospitals for immediate care.
 
Authorities did not specify the severity of their injuries. At the scene, however, firefighters tried to extricate the 18-year-old female passenger from the Honda vehicle. However, the woman passed away.
 
At this time, authorities do not believe alcohol played a part in the cause. If anyone has more information, please call the CHP.
