Rollover Accident on 5 Freeway in Gustine Kills Woman and Sends 10-Year-Old Girl to Hospital

 
GUSTINE, CA (May 16, 2022) – A woman was killed in a rollover accident on 5 Freeway in Gustine on Friday afternoon, May 13.
 
The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. just north of Highway 140 exit. According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a Toyota Prius southbound when the car went off the right side of the freeway and overturned multiple times before landing back on its wheels.
 
As a result, the woman suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was 51 years old from Springfield, Oregon.
 
A girl, around 10 years old, was in the front passenger seat. An air ambulance took her to Valley Children’s Hospital. She had no visible injuries but was in and out of consciousness.
 
The relationship between the two is unknown at this time.
 
Both were wearing seat belts. CHP is still investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
