Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Vehicle on South Union Avenue in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 11, 2023) – A woman was killed in a pedestrian accident on South Union Avenue in Bakersfield Tuesday evening on February 7.
 
The fatal accident happened at the intersection of Adams Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 35-year-old woman wearing dark-colored clothing walked into traffic lanes directly into the path of a vehicle, driven by 26-year-old Jose Luis Moscott Ruiz of Bakersfield.
 
Ruiz was driving around 40 mph when he struck the pedestrian. He immediately stopped after the crash and waited for officers to arrived.
 
The pedestrian, whose identity was not immediately available, died at the scene.
 
CHP officers are still investigating this fatality and anyone with information is encouraged to call them at 661-396-6600.
