BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 15, 2024) — A woman died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 99 near Olive Drive.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian accident happened around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. For an unknown reason, a woman was in the No. 4 lane when a driver, unable to avoid the accident, hit her.
 
Shortly after, CHP officers and paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the female deceased on arrival. Due to the investigation, officers closed the No. 3 and 4 lanes for over an hour.
 
As for the driver, he or she stayed at the scene to answer questions surrounding the crash. Information regarding the factors leading to it was unavailable, however.
