Woman Pushing Shopping Cart Dies after Struck by Cars in Pedestrian Accident at Central Avenue

 
RIVERSIDE, CA (August 20, 2021) – A woman was killed in a pedestrian accident at Central Avenue and Wilderness Avenue Wednesday evening.
 
The accident happened around 9:15 p.m. on August 18, just near the Riverside Municipal Airport. According to the Riverside Police Department, the woman was pushing a shopping cart across Central Avenue when a 52-year-old Riverside woman driving a 2000 Mercedes-Benz struck her.
 
A 22-year-old Fontana man in a Hyundai Elantra, traveling behind the Mercedes, also struck the victim.
 
Both drivers immediately stopped and called 911.
 
Paramedics soon after and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
No one was arrested at this time. Police Traffic Bureau asked anyone with information about this crash to call them at 951-826-8723.
